This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of Rial's services. By using our Services, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your access.
⚠️ Zero Tolerance Policy
We have zero tolerance for abuse, fraud, or misuse of our Services. Violators will be permanently banned and reported to authorities when appropriate.
1. Permitted Uses
1.1 Legitimate Verification
Rial Services may be used for:
- Documenting events, scenes, or conditions for personal or business purposes
- Insurance claims documentation with truthful representations
- Legal evidence gathering (subject to applicable laws)
- Journalism and investigative reporting
- Scientific research and documentation
- Real estate, construction, and property management documentation
- Healthcare documentation (subject to HIPAA and similar regulations)
- Academic and educational purposes
1.2 Developer and Enterprise Use
- Integration into legitimate applications and services
- Building trust and transparency tools
- Compliance and audit systems
- Research and development
2. Prohibited Uses
2.1 Fraud and Deception
You may NOT use Rial Services to:
- Submit fraudulent insurance claims
- Create false evidence for legal proceedings
- Misrepresent staged scenes as authentic events
- Manipulate images before capture to deceive
- Falsify timestamps or locations
- Circumvent detection mechanisms
Example of Prohibited Use: Staging a car accident scene and using Rial to verify it as authentic for an insurance claim. While Rial will confirm the photo was taken at a specific time and place, using this to commit fraud violates this policy and the law.
2.2 Privacy Violations
- Photographing individuals without consent where legally required
- Capturing images in private spaces without authorization
- Stalking, harassment, or surveillance
- Voyeurism or invasion of privacy
- Doxing or publishing private information
2.3 Illegal Content
Absolutely prohibited:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Non-consensual intimate images
- Content depicting illegal activities (drug manufacturing, violence, etc.)
- Terrorism or extremist content
- Human trafficking documentation
- Any content that violates local, state, or federal law
🚨 Legal Reporting
We are required by law to report CSAM and cooperate with law enforcement. All illegal content will be immediately reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant authorities.
2.4 System Abuse
- Attempting to reverse engineer or circumvent security features
- DDoS attacks or service disruption
- Exceeding rate limits or API quotas
- Creating fake accounts or using stolen credentials
- Scraping, crawling, or automated access without authorization
- Exploiting vulnerabilities without responsible disclosure
2.5 Intellectual Property Violations
- Verifying copyrighted images you don't own without permission
- Using Rial's trademarks or branding without authorization
- Misrepresenting Rial's capabilities or endorsements
2.6 Misrepresentation of Services
- Claiming Rial verifies content truthfulness (we don't)
- Stating Rial guarantees 100% fraud prevention (we don't)
- Representing Rial proofs as universally admissible in court (varies by jurisdiction)
- Advertising Rial as an AI content detector (we verify device origin, not content)
3. Professional Responsibilities
3.1 Insurance Industry
If using Rial for insurance purposes, you must:
- Only submit truthful claims with unmanipulated scenes
- Understand Rial verifies capture metadata, not claim validity
- Exercise professional judgment and investigation
- Not rely solely on Rial verification for claim approval
- Comply with insurance fraud prevention laws
3.2 Legal Profession
Attorneys and legal professionals must:
- Consult jurisdiction-specific rules on digital evidence
- Understand Rial's technical limitations and capabilities
- Provide proper foundation and authentication in court
- Comply with discovery and evidence disclosure rules
- Not misrepresent the nature of cryptographic verification
3.3 Healthcare
Healthcare providers must:
- Comply with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
- Obtain appropriate patient consent for medical imaging
- Follow institutional policies on medical documentation
- Not use Rial as a substitute for medical device certification
3.4 Journalism and Media
Media professionals should:
- Follow ethical guidelines for photo journalism
- Disclose when scenes are staged or recreated
- Respect subject privacy and consent requirements
- Accurately represent Rial's role in verification
4. Service-Specific Rules
4.1 API and SDK Usage
Developers must:
- Use API keys securely (never commit to public repositories)
- Respect rate limits and implement proper backoff
- Cache verification results appropriately
- Not share API keys or accounts
- Implement error handling for failed verifications
- Display Rial attribution where required
4.2 Mobile Apps
- Do not modify, decompile, or reverse engineer the app
- Do not use on jailbroken/rooted devices for verification
- Report bugs and vulnerabilities responsibly
- Keep the app updated for security patches
5. What Rial Does and Doesn't Do
5.1 What We Verify ✅
- Device authenticity (hardware attestation)
- Capture timestamp (cryptographically signed)
- GPS coordinates (when enabled)
- Image transformations (crops, edits applied)
- Chain of custody from capture
5.2 What We DON'T Verify ❌
- Content truthfulness or accuracy
- Whether a scene was staged
- Identity of the photographer
- Validity of legal or insurance claims
- Whether objects in the image are real or props
- Context or circumstances around the photo
6. User Responsibilities
6.1 Know the Law
- Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws
- Understand photography laws in your jurisdiction
- Respect privacy laws and consent requirements
- Follow industry-specific regulations (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.)
6.2 Security
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Use strong, unique passwords
- Enable two-factor authentication when available
- Report suspected security incidents promptly
6.3 Responsible Disclosure
If you discover a security vulnerability:
- Email security@riallabs.com immediately
- Do not publicly disclose until we've addressed it
- Provide reasonable time for us to fix (typically 90 days)
- Do not exploit the vulnerability
7. Enforcement
7.1 Violation Response
Depending on severity, we may:
- Warning: First-time minor violations
- Temporary Suspension: Repeated or moderate violations
- Permanent Ban: Serious violations, fraud, or illegal activity
- Legal Action: Criminal activity, CSAM, or significant damages
- Law Enforcement Reporting: As required by law
7.2 Investigation
We reserve the right to:
- Investigate suspected violations
- Request additional information or documentation
- Suspend accounts pending investigation
- Cooperate with law enforcement
- Preserve evidence of violations
7.3 Appeals
If your account is suspended or terminated:
- You will receive notification with reason
- You may appeal to appeals@riallabs.com
- Provide any mitigating information
- We will review and respond within 14 business days
Note: Appeals for illegal content violations or CSAM will not be considered.
8. Reporting Violations
8.1 How to Report
If you witness violations of this AUP:

9. Modifications
We may update this AUP at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
